Does stress make your finger nails go brittle?

Depends on whether you are so stressed that your eating habits have changed. Nails grow using calcium, just as your bones do.

Lack of calcium will make brittle nails. Drink more milk or take calcium supplements and buy a clear polish with calcium in it.Does stress make your finger nails go brittle?
Hi!

Yes, speaking from experience, stress can cause a whole load of problems, brittle nails being one of them.

Try taking a multivitamin containing Zinc as this is proven to help in the re-growth of nails, skin and hair. There is also a supplement you could take called skin, hair and nails which is available in places like Holland and Barrett (probably also your local chemists but may go under a different name) which will help to keep your nails healthy. You could also try a product could Silicea which will help repair the damage to your nails. Always check with your pharmacist before taking any of the above and ask whether it is best to take only one supplement/vitamin at a time rather than a combination.

Hope this helps.Does stress make your finger nails go brittle?
