Is there any evidence that static electricity can cause nails to be dry, weak, thin or brittle?

Since I started my new job, my nails have gotten very weak. The only thing that has changed is the fact that I get static shocked 40 -50 times a day (walking across a carpeted floor and opening a door with a metal handle). Is there any evidence that static electricity can cause nails to be dry, weak, thin or brittle?
Yup your shocks may be the reason for the nail weakening.

First of all. Get a solution to get rid of the shocks. Wear cotton socks, so that you dont give the current a path to ground. Moisture your hands with moisturiser. So sorry for you buddy. Is there any evidence that static electricity can cause nails to be dry, weak, thin or brittle?
Actually both are a result of the air being too dry in your office. You should use a humidifier at home and try to stay well hydrated and moist.
no your probably aren't getting enough calcium.
how about misplaced causuality...

ok.. break it down.. static electricity can't (could but much less likely) exist like that if the humidity levels were not low...

it isn't the static... it is the fact that you are in a really dry place...
