Brittle nails?

i think i may have dry or brittle nails because sometimes they seem like they are peeling away from the layers or chip easily. i read somewhere that this is due to the lack of vitamins in my diet. i think if i started to take a multi-vitamin it might help. does anyone know any vitamins that are good for nail growth and strength, or any treatments i can do?Brittle nails?
Brittle nails is a condition where the nails are fragile and break frequently.





It can be due to an infection or a nutritional disorder, but they can also be an indication of several other medical conditions, including Iron deficiency, anemia, and hypothyroidism.

I have the same problem as you. I tried Hard As Nails and it actually works. It strengthened my nails and allowed them to grow. But you have to be consistent with applying the polish. I try to do it every weekend. I also know for a fact that prenatal vitamins make your hair and nails grow, but that's kind of drastic if you're not pregnant....but it works :)
well sweetie they say vitamine e makes your nails grow strong, but as a cosmatologist i say thats not true. sure vitamine e is important to yer diet, but it does not aid in the growth of you nails. first and formost, DO NOT BITE YOUR NAILS! this is the #1 cause of problems with cracking, chippin, slittin, breaking nails. besides all the bacteria under them, thats nasty, do you know you can get pin worms from bitting your nails? anyways my suggestion is that you get manicures regularly. every 2 weeks. if this is not an option for you, i would say go to your local beauty supply store(not wal-mart!) there are several different professional products just for growth and strength. its usually gonna be a clear polish that should be applied every day or two. these are usually called nail hardeners. and yes if you have a poor diet, this can effect your nails, hair, and skin. so eat yer veggies!
